San Miguel Literary Sala To Publish New Anthology
Call for Submissions!
How many times have you said to yourself, "I really should write up my amazing life since I moved to San Miguel," or " . . . that incident that happened here in 1968!" Now is your chance! After the impressive success of its first anthology, Solamente En San Miguel, the San Miguel Literary Sala, under the capable leadership of writer and former literature professor Dr. Mary Katherine Wainright, is requesting submissions for a second anthology. Again, all of the short fiction, memoirs, essays, poems, or plays must be about San Miguel. A fictional short story, portraits of people you know here, funny or touching incidents, cultural comparisons, historical information, emotional moments — anything that helps readers know more of San Miguel from us insiders is invited!The deadline for submissions is midnight, December 1, 2009. The Sala plans to publish the book in the spring of 2010.We welcome submissions in all genres from anyone who has ever spent time San Miguel. A panel of five literary judges will select works for inclusion in the published book, and will also award prizes in the categories of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Prize winners will receive special recognition in the book.Submission Guidelines(Works not in compliance will not be accepted.)1. The work must be about San Miguel and previously unpublished (except in a local San Miguel publication or a blog.) Any and all genres are acceptable. Midnight December 1, 2009 is the final deadline.2. Prose works must not exceed 3000 words. Poets may submit up to five poems (of reasonable length.)3. A submission fee of $16 US or $200 pesos must accompany each prose work or each set of five or fewer poems.4. How to Submit: All submissions must be in 12-point Times New Roman font and double spaced. PLEASE NOTE: Do not put your name on the work itself, but do put the title of the work. Include on a separate cover sheet all of the following information:• Title and genre of submission• Word count• Your name• E-mail address• Phone number• Mailing address for snail mail• Amount of time you have spent in San Miguel and when• When and what method you used to pay your submission fee5. Where to Submit: You may e-mail your submission as an attachment to anthologysma@yahoo.com, or, if you are local, you may deliver a hard copy to Solutions, Recreo #11, Box 314. If you do not receive an acknowledgement within 48 hours, please re-submit. 6. How to Pay Submission Fee: You may • deliver a check to Solutions, Recreo #11, Box 4314. Make check, in pesos or dollars, payable to "San Miguel Literary' Sala."
